Why day zero? When we originally planned our trip day 1 involved a long drive to Bunree, south of Fort William. However having decided that was too far to drive the motorhome in one go, I am writing this from Collier Hall Farm south of Glasgow, 2 miles from the M74.
The van is well stocked for our trip, we even found room for some clothes in amongst the alcohol, food and stuff for Ernie the Schnoodle. This was supposed to be a surprise for Ernie however someone told him at parkrun yesterday so he has been very excited.
As this is just a stopover we left home mid afternoon after a gorgeous Sunday lunch at the Pot and Glass. We even brought our pudding home from the pub to take to Scotland.
After a failed attempt to put the new bike cover on the bikes we set off with naked bikes. A decent trip across the a66. I amused myself by waving to fellow motorhome drivers …. Most people will cheerfully wave back however 5 people in a row did not return my waves… rude!
It felt strange turning onto the M6 at Penrith as we normally head to Keswick. Once on it we had Sounds of the 70s on Radio 2 to enjoy. What a decade for music, I think my favourite song today was Big Yellow Taxi by Joni Mitchell. There was some gorgeous (tuneless) singing as we headed up the road.

We soon crossed the border into Scotland. We arrived at our site just as the wind really picked up. A nice little spot behind a farm.

We got the kettle on. Pat was amused as I spooned my hot chocolate onto her tea bag. It soon dusted off and we settled down to our cuppa and pub pudding. Apparently it was a lovely cup of tea.
