Day 6 Beautiful Kinlochewe

Saturday is parkrun day!! Sadly we had left it too late to do the 4 hour journey to Stornaway in the outer Hebrides to do their parkrun….. 56 mile drive to Ullapool and then the ferry…. It would have been fun…. Something for next time! Ernie and I set off for a little joglet. What a lovely morning. Kinlochewe is totally surrounded by hills, stunning.

I read an article recently about the environmental impact of clothes washing and how if we wore clothes for longer and washed clothes less often there would be a massive positive environmental impact. I was thinking of that article this morning and how I was doing my bit as I pulled on my well worn walking socks. You’re welcome Greta Thunberg. We set out on our first walk of the day in the beautiful nature reserve that is next to the campsite. We had a beautiful rainbow but fortunately no rain. Ernie found a stick and was loving life.

After our lovely walk we set off to enjoy the social centre of Kinlochewe; the garage (£179.9 a litre of diesel in case you’re interested), shop, cafe combo. A lovely cake and cuppa and a stock up on a few provisions for the next stage of our trip.

After a nice relax on the van we set off for an afternoon walk in the nature reserve to follow the exciting sounding buzzard trail. Sadly the buzzards had not got the memo that we were on our way and were conspicuous by their absence. It was a nice walk with great views. We nearly missed the rain…. Nearly!

This evening we went and had a very enjoyable meal at the Kinlochewe Hotel. We can highly recommend. Off on the next league our journey tomorrow. Hopefully better weather than yesterday.
