When I took Ernie for his last walk last night I could hardly open the van door it was that windy. The night was wild….. and I don’t mean like the wild nights we had when we were younger, but the wind and rain whipped the van all night. Fortunately by morning it had eased slightly and we were able to pack the van up and set off on the next leg of our journey. We were heading for the Sango Sands campsite at Durness. After a decent journey with 100% success rate of wave returns from fellow motorhome drivers we arrived in Durness. A nice site set above a gorgeous bay.

After setting the van up we set off to the exciting Spar shop in the village. It was like the tardis. Who knew shopping could be such fun. We even bumped into the sister and husband of a friend of ours. We arranged to meet them in the pub later.

After the excitement of the Spar we had an explore of the beach below where the van was parked. It was stunning and Ernie loved it….

We nipped back to the van for a spot of lunch…. Beans on toast with a view…..

After lunch we went to visit the Balnakeil craft village…. Home of Cocoa Mountain which is home to what they say is the “the best hot chocolate”…. It had to be done. I’ll let you decide whether I enjoyed it

We used the sugar rush to go down to an abandoned church where John Lennon’s aunt is buried. It was beside a beautiful beach.

We headed back to the van to have a rest and a look for porpoises in the bay, before we head to the bar to meet the friends we met in the Spar.
