In Norse, Thorsa means what the title of the blog says. It is where the name of Thurso comes from. So today we did the River of the God Thor parkrun. It was a morning typical of many we have had with sunshine and showers. We packed the van up and drove the 20 minutes to Thurso and got nicely parked opposite the park. We were quite early even though we had remembered Scottish parkruns start at 9.30. We sat in the van doing today’s “controversial” Wordle and the heavens opened. Fortunately it stopped in time for us to go to the start. It was a pretty course but with a ridiculously narrow start. Even though it was on concrete it was still wet and muddy. Ernie was not keen to run and had a poo stop and FIVE wee stops! There was a man who looked like a younger Billy Connolly, running it in what looked like blue silky pyjama bottoms and a waistcoat. I told him I liked his waistcoat and he seemed quite pleased. The rain stayed away and we enjoyed it. Ernie was not so happy when I tried to get him in the pond to clean him up afterwards.

As always I’m so very proud of Pat….

After the excitement of park run we headed back to the van. Ernie was far from happy as he had to go in his special grow-bag to clean him up.

We then hit the heady heights of Thurso Tesco….. the choice was overwhelming! We got what we needed and headed off on our next drive.

The drive down our next stop was quite straightforward. We drove through a big wind farm which must have generated a lot of electricity recently and then down the very pretty coastline.

We arrived our Brora caravan site 10 minutes before the 1pm arrival time. Caravan club site wardens can be sticklers for the rules and we were a bit worried they would be annoyed that we were there before 1. Turns out she was lovely and really helpful. We selected our pitch and did the exciting job of laundry. Between the van and the beach is a golf course, we are hoping there are no wayward shots that hit our van!

After the excitement of both big Tesco and doing the laundry we need a little rest and some Scottish snacks. We then had a wander down to the beach. Yet another lovely beach. Ernie was very happy.

So it is now time to settle down with a beer from the big Brew Dog selection box I bought with me, read my book and look out for wayward golf balls.
