Day 14 …. Morning has broken …

When I was in sixth form…. a long long time ago obviously….. me and my friend, who lived along the street from me, had a bizarre ritual before we went out on a Friday night….. we would listen to the Cat Stevens version of Morning has Broken (she had the single) and we would drink a can of Special Brew …. We were the epitome of rock and roll! Happy days.

Anyway that song sprung to mind when we did an early morning opening of the blinds for a weather check. Morning had certainly broken. It was one of the most spectacular sunrises I think I’ve ever seen. I went rushing out of the van in my PJs. It was stunning and these photos don’t do it justice.

If it was that good at the van I thought it must be amazing at the beach. I pulled some clothes on top of my PJs and headed for the beach. I’m so pleased I did. Sorry (not sorry) for all the photos

A tad windy!

The photos don’t really do it justice. Morning had certainly broken and will live long in the memory. After a spot of breakfast we headed down the coast to Dunrobin Castle. We were looking forward to seeing the castle and also their famous falconry display. Poor Ernie wasn’t allowed in the castle, and to be honest he is still a bit upset about people laughing at him in his grow-bag yesterday. So he had some quiet time in the van whilst we headed down to the castle. It was interesting to wander around a fraction of the rooms, apparently there 189 rooms in the castle but only a small amount available to visitors. When I went to pay, I asked what age was considered a senior. 60 came the reply, so I asked for 2 senior tickets. I thought he may say ‘no way you’re 60’ however he didn’t so I had to comfort myself that whilst I may look ancient I had saved £2.

After a wander around the rooms we went to check where the falconry display was. Cancelled, apparently due to the high winds. I remember the day when falcons would fly whatever the weather. It’s health and safety gone mad.

Absolutely no evidence of high winds.

We had a wander round the gardens and then saw the magic sign that pointed to the Tea Rooms. We got to sit next to a steam powered fire engine. A man in a kilt came and took our photo.

A couple of old deers and a fire engine.

We headed back to the van and then back to the site. Ernie needed a walk so we headed into the village of Brora. It’s quite a pretty village. Sadly we had missed the duck race so we headed to the village pub. First disappointing pub we have visited this holiday.

An average pint.

We had a wander round the village. Memories we brought back of Cocoa Mountain.

We didn’t visit as still stuffed from Castle Tearoom
Interesting!

We headed back to the site. The rest of the day will include a bit of a rest and then a trip to the beach. No rainbows today, not yet anyway!
